Can Chavez make a play for head of OPEC?
If OPEC changes its standards on what is acceptable salable oil, Venezuela could move up to be the largest oil producing country in the world! Forget countries like Saudia Arabia which are actually seeing declining oil production. What do you think? Any change OPEC will change its regulations?

Anyone with opinions on the upcoming presidential election in Venezuela? Seems like Chavez is a lock but it ain't over till it's over, right?

Do you think Raul Castro will really succeed Castro when he moves on? Seems hard to believe. He is only two years younger than Castro and they have other, younger, people in Government they could pick. Thoughts? This seems like a wacky strategy, however perhaps they don't want the "real" successor ...

I spent time visiting and doing some work in Havana, Cuba during the late 90s. During that time the country had two currencies; the Cuban Peso, usable by cubans only, and the US Dollar, usable by foreigners and Cubans.
