Differant type of install...

At the moment, I am running nUbuntu on a thumb drive as though it is the Live CD. Is there a way to install it to that drive or set it up so that i can save my changes? The thumb drive is 8GB. I am just getting tired of going through the hassle of setting up all that I need each time I boot up.
