As most people know, this is a heated debate in the US. Do you think people should have the right to bear arms?
I personally think that it is a good thing that people can have guns, but there needs to be more ways to keep track of guns, and other things like that, so they don't get into the wrong hands.

I trust my 12 year old cousin with a gun more than an cop (aka thug) atleast my cousin while using the gun will be it protect her self or someone other than her, while the cops use the guns to keep us in check and to help the state keep the police state going.
And i don't care what you think, if you want or dont want to the right to bear arms, it's there, even if you dont want it to be, i will carry my gun, proudly and everywhere i go.

You should have the right to bear arms. Unless you have proved by your actions that you can not be trusted with a weapon.

I agree with that for the US.
However for the UK, I believe we have a right to, but its in our best interests that we are not allowed to!

The right to bear arms should be granted to US citizens with whom they can be trusted. There should a certification program other than Hunter's Safety that is required before you can own a gun.

It's a right embodied in the US Constitution, isn't it? I think it's probably a good thing. But I don't know what kind of chaos might break out if we suddenly allowed free handling/possession of firearms here. On the other hand, I have read a good case for doing just that, and I was kinda swayed by it...

Dodge, we have lots of lifers - thousands of them (that means people who usually have comitted murder) roaming our streets. We have tens of thousands of criminals walking around our streets all the time. Killer peodeophiles walk our streets as do people convicted of terrible crimes.
Life in the UK is 18 years. Under early release laws this means if you are good you get out after 12 years. Sometimes in exceedingly aggravated crimes the killer may get a higher minimum (a child killer may get 30 years) or a race hate attack (20 minimum). However at the end of their time out they come. We have in the last 50 years have had less than 100 proper, really proper life sentences given out to our criminals.
Let gun laws loose? Give all these people access to guns? Our death rate from guns is very very very low. Not even our police carry them. I have no desire for a US/Brazilian liberal gun culture. Even knives are banned on our streets. The maximum length is just 3 inches and no lock knives are allowed. It's a good thing IMO for the UK.
It would be no good in the US as the only people who would give up their guns would be the good people. All the criminals would keep theirs!

This is true. We tend to feel like it is better for the bad guys to think most people are armed. And in this state we have a new law giving us the right to use deadly force on any home intruders. I think home intruders are the really scary people anyway. People that break in to occupied homes will hurt you or worse.
